COMPANY HISTORY
Although a relatively new player in the power industry, Millennium Energy Inc. recounts a rich history in the industry which is based on the Operation and Maintenance of its Two (2) Power Plants beginning with the Bataan Combined Cycle Power Plant.
1992 to July 2009
- The power plant was constructed and commissioned by National Power Corporation thru Build-Transfer-Operate scheme.
- ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB), a Swiss-Swedish multinational corporation was contracted by NPC for 15 years to Operate and Maintain the plant.
- June 1999 official merger of ABB and ALSTOM.
- March 2000, 50:50 ABB and ALSTOM shared the Operation & Maintenance of BCCPP.
- During the later part of this period, ALSTOM, a French multinational company, acquired 100% of the Operations & Maintenance from the initial 50% coverage from ABB.
August 2009
- The power plant was acquired by Panasia Energy Holding’s Inc. (PEHI) a wholly-owned subsidiary of San Miguel Energy Corporation (SMEC) from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM).
January 2010
- Turnover of BCCPP from PSALM to SMEC.
- BCCPP was already a certified member of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
February 2010
- The power plant started operation under San Miguel Energy Corporation BCCPP was already a certified member of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
- ALSTOM was contracted by SMEC to operate and maintain the plant.
August 2011
- ALSTOM turns over 100% Operations & Maintenance to Panasia Energy Holdings Inc. (PEHI).
- Also during this period, Millennium Energy Holdings Inc. (MEHI) purchased 100% equity share of PEHI from SMEC.
On the other hand, MGTPP formerly known as Navotas 1 and 2 Gas Turbine, began in 1990 during the power crisis years in the Philippines the cancellation of a controversial nuclear power plant with no new capacity power plants built, led to daylong electricity interruptions that hindered the growth of the Philippine economy.
1990 to 2010
- The power plant was constructed and commissioned by National Power Corporation thru Build-Operate-Transfer scheme.
- Hopewell Holdings Limited, a Hongkong Infrastructure and Property firm was contracted by NPC for almost 15 years to Operate and Maintain the plant.
- On the later part of this period, City Government of Navotas garnished the power plant from NPC.
2009
- Millennium Energy Holdings Inc. (MEHI) was established.
2010
- Navotas 1 & 2 Gas Turbine consisting of three (3) x 70 MW and one (1) x 100 MW respectively was acquired by MEHI from the city government of Navotas through a public bidding.
August 2011
- August 26: Millennium Energy Holdings Inc. acquires 100% equity share of Panasia Energy Holdings Inc. (PEHI) from San Miguel Energy Corporation.
- August 31: Millennium Energy Holdings Inc., amended its Articles of Incorporation to become Millennium Energy Inc. (MEI).
2014 – 2015
- In response to the Government’s call for additional power sources due to power shortage in 2015, the rehabilitation of one (1) x 100 MW Gas Turbine was implemented and made commercially available as a merchant plant starting March 26, 2015.
